With Love From …. Shoot from the Trip
Well folks, we made it to the end of 2017.
It was a funny old year, and not a particularly great one for me personally. I sadly lost both of my parents at the start of the year, a month apart. It was a difficult time and has continued to be so during the whole year really. These things change your focus and your priorities in life. I guess it is partly the reason I started up this blog in June – something to shift the focus and throw my attention towards. I am glad for that, as it has been nice to document some of my travels, show off some of my photos and learn to do some writing that people would be able to read, understand and even enjoy – all great challenges.
It’s not been all bad of course.
There have been some great and memorable times along the way.
Having had to spend so much time time in my homeland of North Wales in the early months of the year I had the opportunity to explore some of the beautiful (and sometimes bleak) scenery there was to offer.
We spent some time in the North East of England in April visiting my in-laws. Saltburn-by-the-Sea is another beautiful place to spend some time. Check out some more photos here.
We had a fabulous week in Antigua in May – a paradise island with beautiful people which I hope is recovering well from Hurricane Irma that passed through in September. I know the resort that we stayed in has only just reopened to guests.
In July we spent a night at a hotel that was on my bucket list – the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel. It didn’t disappoint, a wonderful and stunning building.
In August, we had the opportunity to do some inland surfing at Surf Snowdonia in North Wales, something I never thought I would do. As expected, it wasn’t really my strong point but I am definitely going to return for round two in 2018.
We also had a fabulous week in the Dolomites in September. The stunning and beautiful mountain landscapes left me breathless, and not always due to the altitude!
October saw Autumn setting in with some beautiful scenery at Winkwork Arboretum – definitely worth a visit at any time of the year.
Closer to home, October also saw the opening of the Thames Lido, and gave me the opportunity to spend some time exploring the finer details of my hometown of Reading.
There are plans currently being put in place for 2018 and 2019 from a travelling perspective – nothing concrete and nothing booked yet, but it’s going to be a time for visiting new places, trying new experiences, ticking off some bucket list destinations and hopefully bringing you all some great stories and some even better photos.
As the sun sets on 2017, I want to thank you all for reading and following my blog this last 6 months, I am blown away by the amount of likes, follows and comments that I have received. A lot of this is partly down to WordPress choosing one of the blog posts to feature on the Discover section of the site, – something which gave me a real boost (in confidence and readers). So, thanks WordPress and please don’t be shy if you ever want to feature any more!
I am going to be having a little bit of shake up of the site in time for a little relaunch in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled for that. And thanks again for sticking around.
